This is the beach at Lyme Regis viewed from Lister Gardens, a memorial to Dr Joseph Lister the first Baron of Lyme Regis, who pioneered antiseptic surgery and whose portrait featured on a 2010 postage stamp to celebrate the 350th anniversary of the Royal Society.
These gardens, together with the adjacent Langmore Gardens were completely re-made and re-planted during 2006 as part of a £20m coastal protection scheme.
The long harbour wall which can be seen at the end of the beach is the famous Cobb which was used as a film location for the film 'French Lieutenant's Woman' and also Jane Austen's 'Persuasion'
