The harbour wall or The Cobb in Lyme Regis was made famous when it featured
in the film 'The French Lieutenant's Woman, and more recently in the TV
adaptation of Jane Austen's 'Persuasion'.
It was here that Louisa Musgrove fell down the steps in Persuasion, and where
Meryl Streep stood in 'The French Lieutenant's Woman'.
The curvature of the Cobb helps deflect the enormous power of the waves which have almost destroyed it on many occasions over the centuries. |
